Bahamas report

First of all, thanks to the folks who responded to my pre-trip post. I totally took their advice and asked my cabdriver and the concierge at the hotel and found some good food.

Also, they were totally right that Paradise Island is a wasteland in terms of food.

I asked the concierge to suggest someplaces and she rattled of a list of restaurants that sounded suspiciously touristy. I told her that I didn't want to go anywhere that the tourists go and she said she'd send me to a restuarant where she wanted to go.

In Arawak Cay there is a strip of restaurants. Granted they seemed a little touristy as well. But I had the best conch fritters, conch salad and stone carb claws there. Sefood Haven was the restaurant. I also heard good things about Twin Brothers and Big 10, which both had some good fried fish. Grouper better at Big 10, snapper at Twin Brothers.

I've always been a little trepidatious about asking cab drivers and such about food reco's. But from now on, I'm on that bandwagon.
