Bad news, good news

Lori Midson | Sep 20, 2001 07:55 PM

We're not coming to New York after all. Our flight on Saturday was canceled, and to make matters worse, my parents pitched a fit, calling us insensitive, morbid! and in chow language--distasteful, for even entertaining the thought of NYC as a vacation destination--this, despite the fact that we've had this trip planned for months. I'm so pissed, but we've also got a two-year-old who we would have been leaving behind (with the freaked-out parents), and frankly, this week has been so terrible that I just couldn't keep arguing. And when our flight was canceled, I threw in the towel.

Now the good news! There are reservations to be had at 71 Clinton, Tabla, Babbo, Balthazar, Gramercy Park, and Chicama! And, I swear, we will be coming to NYC next year. I made my mother sign a declaration that she'd watch Elliott next year when hubby and I went to New York. Thanks to all of you who gave me restuarant suggestions--for your unsinking spirit, thoughtfulness, and honesty.
