After a quick search here came up empty, it seems once again Yelp has bested Chowhound as the source for new restaurants to try.
Located on Atlantic, & open since January, this is in part of the old Four Olives space. Very similar to the 3 restaurants in Belmont Shore, so if you live away from Belmont Shore it's no longer necessary to trek over there to satisfy a last-minute craving of Lebanese cuisine.
I had the "El Sheik Delight" which includes a few stuffed grape leaves, kafta, kibbe, and a choice of shish kebab (I had lamb which was fantastic). Includes a side of hummus and sourcream/yogurt dip for the grape leaves, as well as rice. Price $14.95 which I thought was very good for the quantity and quality. My friend had the lamb shish kabab plate, also $14.95. Starters were pickled turnips (yum, better than Zankou's & only $1.50) and yogurt dip (which includes some cucumber chunks and is enough for two). Pita comes with the meal. For beverages we had the iced green tea, unfortunately they don't serve the minted type, but it was unlimited and reasonably priced at $1.95 pp. Total bill with generous tip was $52 for two.
The place was pretty busy for 5:30 pm on a Sunday (although it wasn't obvious from the street that they were open). A birthday party was in progress. Apparently the neighborhood has discovered the restaurant even if the Chow community hasn't. They are open 11 am to 9pm except Mondays. Daily lunch specials during the week, include a few unusual choices at $9.95 ..Tuesday is Egplant stuffed with lamb and pine nuts, Wednesday is Bami (okra lamb stew) and Thursday is Lubie (lamb and bean stew in tomato sauce). Friday is $7.95 lentil soup with a half Mediterreanean or Fatoush salad. Of course they have the usual kabab and Shwarma sandwiches at $6.95 to $7.95.
Recommended. On Yelp, one of the comments mentions that this is the same owners that ran Sahara Lebanese a while back in Long Beach. We liked the decor, too.
