With the continued deconstruction of Chinatown, BA LE (I believe is Vancouver's very first banh mi shop) moved across the road to the NE corner of Main & E. Georgia. I stopped by for a quickie lunch today, got the Viet meatloaf one for $3.50. Observations:
- baguette was not toasted, before or after, being made into a sammie
- waaaay too much white onion slices
- no pate was discernable
- little nuoc mam taste
- no butter-mayo !
The whole thing was cold and rather bland tasting. Even with my cold my palate is sensitive and await that nuoc cham kick. Two 2-seater tables graced the room, which is otherwise bereft of Viet confectioneries and goodies found at their Kingsway/Fraser store.
