I went to Azul Tequila for the first time last night. Its over near Strait music on Ben White and Lamar.
I wanted to try the interior food even though I was tempted by the queso flameado. I can't find many mexican restaurants that make that oddly enough.
We had the rajas de crema first. Basically it was sliced poblano peppers in a light creme sauce. It was okay but the peppers needed to be hotter.
I had the puerco con rojo, I believe as a entree. Basically pork in a red chile sauce. It was good but a bit tangy. The rice and beans were good. My partner at the cochinita pibil with plantains. It was also good but the meat was a bit dry. I really like the plantains. They had good corn torillas.
Overall the service was really good. The place doesn't have a lot of atmosphere but you're really there for the food. They have cheaper prices that Curras for interior food. It's worth a try.
I'll be moving to the West University area soon so I won't be as close. Anyone have any updates on the food in that area? (such as Madam Nam's, 34th Street Cafe, Starlite, Granite Cafe..) I've been to several places in that area already such as Dirty's, Veggie Heaven, Thai Noodle House, Ruby's, and Chango's and Piccolo.
