I don't think AZ deserves all the ravaging you guys did in the thread below. The elevator and blue-lit ceiling are indeed funky, and though th decor's a bit too accessorized, the food really is quite delectable. The oxtail and coriander-crusted tuna was perfectly spiced; I love tuna and this exceeded in delicacy of spices and depth of flavor (and originality!) most of the tuna dishes (usually pepper-crusted) I've had in ny. The cod was also good, and the desserts unusual and tasty. I didn't expect the banana caramel Napoleon to be as light and thoughtfully blended (with tamarind) as it was -- neither did I expect the tangy Meyer lemon ice with fruit to be as refreshing. The condiments were excellent. Ok, it's pricey, and the acoustics leave a lot to be desired, but the retractable roof, when they retract it, will make it all worthwhile in the spring. Pretty unNYish sort of place. You're all right about the service, however.
