A giant bake sale is being held this Saturday from 10-3 in Building A Conference Center at Fort Mason. Bakers include Linda Carucci, Carolyn Beth Weil(new book on pies), Artisan Bakery(Sonoma), Semifreddi's(East Bay), Bakers of Paris, Sweet Things(Tiburon and SF), Full Bloom(Menlo Park-great wholesale bakery), Earl Darl of Bay Wolf in Oakland, Nancy's Fancies(San Carlos), Mom's Apple Pies, Christine Law of Postrio(SF), Scharffen Berger chocolates, Janet Rikala (former pastry chef at Postrio), Wood Stove Kitchen's award winning Miz Sassy Red Pepper Relish, members of the Baker's Dozen(cookbook in 2001).
Sounds great, and it's for a good cause (fighting childhood hunger).
Another bake sale takes place (as part of the same charity, though with different bakers) on Sunday at Northbrae Community Church (941 Alameda at Solano) in Berkeley from 11:00-2:00
More on this weekend's national charity bake sales at link below. Chowhound can't serve as a community bulletin board for all manner of charity events, etc, 'cuz it'd dilute the chowfulness. But these sound of interest to chowhounds above/beyond their "good cause" appeal.
