just got back from a quick frolic in SA -- and stumbled upon a gem of an Italian rest., Grissini's -- it's about 5 miles (15 min. drive) away from the RiverWalk and located in a strip mall near the medical center-- the ambience could be improved -- the decor resembles an Olive Garden, but don't let that fool ya.

the food is to DIE FOR --

we started out with the daily special, grilled quail on a bed of baby spinach leaves and moved onto to entrees - my husband had the snapper with artichoke hearts and grape tomatoes and I had the homemade cheese ravioli -- incredible!!! The portions are substantial and the price tag isn't cheap for SA Entrees range from $15 for pasta up to $25 for an entree but it is well worth it. The chef/owner hails from Italy and prepares all the dishes himself; his wife serves as the hostess.
The restaurant has only been around for 3 years--if the decor was better and located in a more hip area, this place would be mobbed.

The food is REAL, ROBUST, and so SATISFYING! enjoy!
