Authentic but tasteless tacos in Freehold

seal | Mar 5, 2010 01:06 PM

Soon after they first opened I had tried Bahia De Acapulco in Freehold and found them lacking. Still, I figured that every place deserves a second chance so I found myself there again today.

I ordered three tacos - one of each of Al Pastor, Enchilada, and Carnitas. I was hoping for a pork tasting feast, and the plate that arrived looked authentic enough, but ... I have never had tacos as dry and flavorless as these. The Al Pastor was dry even with the teeny pieces of pinapple (how do you get dry pinapple?) and the Enchilada was just the Al Pastor without the pinapple. The Carnitas, which is supposed to be the driest of the three was not the slow cooked marinated pork that I foolishly hoped for, but was just flavorless cubes of pork.

I couldn't squeeze enough lime on these to make them worth eating more than a bite or two. So I quickly left a ten spot for the waitress and beat a hasty retreat to juicier shores. In short - just awful.
