Australian Ice Cream - best in city

There is a sleek looking new shop on 8th street (St. Mark's) between 1st Ave and Avenue A called Australia (or Australian, or something like that). They have a decent size selection of chocolates, but the best thing there is the ice cream.

The ice cream is made fresh daily and they have the machines up front so you literaly see them scooping it from the machines into the vats to serve it. The Macadamia nut w/caramel is awesome and the chocolate is made with high quality bits of dark chocolate and is the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. I've also tried their strawberry cheesecake, which has huge chunks of cheesecake in vanilla ice cream.

The stuff is very creamy (more of a gelato consistency) and tastes super fresh. It beats the hell out of Emack & Bolios (which, I admit, I have never been all that crazy about) and every other ice cream place that I have tried in the city.

I think they may also have opened (or perhaps will open soon) a branch in Macy's. I think I overheard the guy who works behind the counter mention something about that to a customer. If the Macy's thing is true, that would mean, I assume, that they got rid of Emack & Bolios, which used to have a branch in Macy's. Big improvement, if so, because that E & B's at Macy's was a dump and had terrible service.
