I picked the Austernkeller from the recommendations on this board for a one night stay in Munich where I did not want to book well in advance and we were not diappointed. I just phoned at 7 p.m. and still got a nice table for two although the place completely filled in the course of the evening (a saturday in October). We had St. Jacques on salad and a Loup de Mer on roasted fennel in a Pernod sauce and sorbets with figs/fruit coulis and all were fine as was the bottle of 2003 Pouilly Fuissé, the mineral water and the espresso. The service by a bavarian lady was charming and efficient. We considered the 137,- EUR for the two of us a very reasonable price. The place is a little heavy-handedly decorated (in a sort of neo-Rokoko?) with ornate lamps, lots of decorative plates and items, half-blinded mirrors and photos and pictures. But it fits the cellar atmosphere and is Ok for an evening (probbaly less so for a serious business lunch).
