I was just writing to put in my 2 cents about this restaurant in Dallas. I went not having high or low expectations. I had heard good reviews of the restaurant, yet some not so good reviews about the chef Avner. I just wanted to take a friend out for a nice birthday dinner.
Let me say that my whole my experience with the restaurant was WONDERFUL!! The food was excellent. I do have to admit that my Jonah crab souffle, while delicious, was a bit big and I didn't finish all of it because I was saving room for the rest of the meal, but that was just silly of me. I'm not one for sorbets either, but the watermelon version that was served was delicious. It could have been dessert.
I also have to give a nod to our excellent waiter. In fact, the whole staff was great. I have yet to see a team work so fluidly together. The sommelier worked with us to find the right wine. Unfortunately, my friend had bad allergies and wasn't really drinking, but that led me to discover their great list of half bottles. I've never seen so many good choices. The list wasn't huge, but what they had were excellent.
Overall a great dinner. Just what we needed.
I know some people wrote that they were dissapointed with this place and with Avner in general, but if this is torture, chain me to the wall.
