Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

KevinB | Jun 10, 2008 10:44 AM

I went to my local Burger King on Sunday (I had a free Whopper coupon), and ordered the Whopper my usual way - extra pickle, extra tomato. "Sorry, sir, no tomatoes today. Our supplier didn't come" was the response.

Now, considering there was a 24-hour grocery not 100 yards away, I was taken a bit aback; "Why", I thought to myself "doesn't the manager get over there and buy a dozen tomatoes?". I let it go, and had my lycopene-free burger.

Later, when I got home, I read that McD's, BK, Wendy's, and other FF chains had stopped using raw tomatoes due to a salmonella scare.

In the 70's, it was only a movie, but now it's real, I tell you, it's REAL!
