I am SO impressed. When most places scramble for the 'stars' that the Times/Zagats/other guides give out, Atlas has decided to do simpler and, in my opinion, better food. I was skeptical at first, but loved it from the 'glow' in the windows when I passed by going home. It is Cafe Atlas now - on Central Park South around the corner from the Plaza. First of all the people they have working for them are SO nice and up-beat. The dishes we had were the strip steak sitting on fries and cream spinach and the short ribs. Starters were a healthy bowl full of mussels with garlic toast strips and an unbelieveably good mushroom strudel. They are just starting up again, so the menu will be expanding - so said the chef. I can see getting to know this place well...even if it is only a drink after work.
