Asmara Eritrean in San Diego

Ed Dibble | Apr 8, 2008 07:14 AM

On my last visit to SD, some friends and I decided to try Asmara at 4155 University. I have always loved Ethiopian foood, but none of the places currently operating in SD have much impressed me.

I thought this was a step up. The place is modern and stylish, with tasteful decor and flat screen TVs (though the videos on the TVs didn't match the music on the sound system).

Although the place proudly proclaims itself Eritrean, the food is very similar to Ethiopian cuisine - various dishes served on nicely sour injera. Prices are also reasonable with no entree above $10. Service was friendly and competent as well.

Try it, you'll like it.
