I am addicted to a salad that I am able to buy by the pound from Gelson's Market here in Los Angeles. It's called "Kung Pao Chicken Salad" and is roughly chopped Chinese cabbage, scallions, red peppers, sliced chicken, cilantro, & peanuts covered with a spicy translucent dressing.
I can put this together but am having a hard time getting the "dressing" right. I figure there is probably some chili oil and sesame oil ... I need help.
Recently they also had a Chinese Shrimp and Noodle Salad also with a spicy and sewet dressing but, again, the dressing makes the dish.
Any dressing ideas out there that people use to make an Asian deli salad?
