I've had wonderful experiences in Bocaccio, a family-run restaurant in Park Slope. It's at 287 9th Street between 4th and 5th Avenue. We served by the whole family. The decor is really elegant with the enormous chandelier despite the Christmas lights they put on the outside window (McDonald's is next door and overshadows them). Recently, the appetizers we had were grilled calamari and mussels cooked with fennel and wine. Everything was so nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly, down to the side vegetables and the butter with bits of scallions for our bread. Of course the steak was succulent and cooked as per our order. Both times we were there, we served complimentary empanadas and digestif (liquor after dinner). I really hope more people go there before they close. Ok, so that was the only downfall of this experience, we were one of only 3 parties dining there.
