...was it just an off night?
On Friday, three of us walked down to Arcos. It was a beautiful evening, and we wanted to sit outside, as everyone else wanted to do. It was crowded, but we managed to find an acceptable spot.
Something was wrong from the minute we received our Patron margaritas. They didn't taste nearly the same as they had the other two times I had been there. For our second round, we made sure we went into the bar, to watch Fernando make them. Also, at the bar, they have some hideous pre-made margarita spout thing that dispenses Hawaiian punch-like margaritas with rock gut tequila. I don't remember that before, but I now think it's doubly important for people to specify their tequila when ordering.
I had the lamb, which was actually very good. My partner had the bbq chicken, which was lackluster at best. A thigh and leg covered with jarred (I assume) bbq sauce. My dish was just a plate of lamb, with nothing else. It turns out that you now must order rice and beans a la carte. It just seemed silly. My friend had the ench w/mole, and was pleased.
In any event, we sort of couldn't wait to leave. The atmosphere seems to have changed, servers were overwhelmed, etc. I don't know if it was due to a Friday night, or what, but my partner and I left saying that we felt no need to return.
Just my two cents. Anyone want to posit an explanation or commiserate with me?
