The last time I remember going to an Arby's was sometime around 1993. I had just accepted a job as the production manageYr at a large factory and was moving my family to our new home. We were tired from the trip and stopped late at the Arby's. The lady who handled the money also handled the moist meat. I told her that I would not take meat that she had handled with her bare hands after handling the money. She threw away the order and put on gloves and handled it properly after my complaint. We were watching our son playing in his high school basketball game and I told the doctor we sat with during the game the story and he sternly told me I should have reported the incident to the board of health. We don't eat fast food as a rule and my suggestion is, in general, stay away from fast food. I worked at McDonald's in 1969 or 1970 and back then we made our French fries. I would put the potatoes in a pealing machine and then manually press out the fries. I would use a shovel to scoop the lard into the frying vats and blanch the fries. After blanching, I would hang the individual strainers on a rack so that when the lard was heated to deep fry the fries they were ready hanging to drop in. Those French fries definitely tasted good but we're certainly not healthy.
