I was in the area this week and decided to stop in for lunch and was in the mood for a burger. A little background; I'm not a burger guru..either fast food, pub, or "gourmet'" so I don't have CSB or Bristol as a reference point. Don't get me wrong..I enjoy burgers and my standard is to have Sulmona ground 8+ oz, roll from Bova, slice of onion, sharp cheddar and A1. Cook it on a hot grill...rarely for lunch..too time consuming..casual dinner.
This 1 came with the ambitious name of "Sophisticated Burger Kobe Beef*, Dijon, Capers, Caramelized Onion, Short Ribs." With all the talk of fancy burgers, how could I resist?:). The room has had a nice makeover from Sensing and the service is so top notch I felt a little silly ordering a burger, Mr this, Mr that..hope you're enjoying your day, sir, etc. Not overbearing, appropriate level for a waterlogged schmo ordering a burger in a fancy place. Same level of formality as ordering a tasting menu at #9
On to the burger, perfectly cooked, MR with a char on it, great flavor and a good size. Condiments brought in little ramekins, ketchup, mayo, mustard auto..A1, Worcesteshire and Tabasco on request. Excellent fries and a mesclun salad. This DIYer enjoyed it and I'm curious what the aficionados think. At $13 it's fairly priced; major competition is Joes at about $10, without all the bells and whistles.
Don't know if they have a bar menu but that might be a good take.
