DH really enjoys pear and apple cider. Most recently, he shared some with friends and they loved it. Which got me to thinking, it might be fun to make our own in small batches to enjoy and give as gifts at Christmas. I've already done a perusal on the web and have a pretty good idea of how it is done. I have also ordered Annie Proulx's book on cider making. Little did I know she is the same Annie Proulx who wrote The Shipping News! Anyway, I do have a few questions:
Do you have to have a cider press or can you use a food mill?
One web site I found described the process as lengthy (a couple of months until you can bottle it) but the information at Leener's says you can make it in a weekend! How long, if all goes well, should it take?
