Or is this place really overhyped and mediocre? After seeing Fahrenheit 911, took in dinner last Sunday at AOC. The verdict -- more show than go, and my partner had nausea all the next day, so really a thumbs down.
The two best dishes were the Speck, apples and arugula salad from the "Charcuterie" section, and the confit of duck salad, which was very tasty. Also had three fish dishes, which were either too salty or too oily: the wild salmon, the softshell crab (a special) and I believe, a sea bass. Some of these we didn't even finish, and these are small plates. Had a selection of three cheeses, which were also underwhelming.
Coincidentally, the place got a plug in this week's Newsweek "Tip Sheet", as one of the hottest "small plates" places in the US; also Westways just gave it a rave review as a place deserving of its buzz.
I see no reason to return without specific suggestions as to what to order.
