The family (three hungry teens, one is a finicky vegetarian, and another a UC freshman dying to eat away from the commons) celebrated their dad's birthday last nite. If you're in search of a more reasonably priced place with sushi and meat entrees try Anzu. The server/owner warned us that the dinners would take awhile because of the large numbers of sushi orders. The tables were filled with mostly UC students and neighborhood folks. Small, homey and quiet. It was worth the wait. An assortment of sashimi and two rolls was $11. When was the last time you ordered a chicken teriyaki entree for $8? Thumbs up for the udon and donburi too. All was generous and the service friendly. Total for five including tax and tip was $67. (No sukiyaki on the menu and the tempura was not as light and crispy as I had hoped for.) We'll be back having the satisfaction of supporting a mom and pop operation.
