Restaurants & Bars 5

Anthony's Pizza

Steph | Dec 5, 2005 10:07 AM

I went for dinner, Friday night, and found the pizza to be very good, but not yet perfect.

The middle of the pie was soggy, in spite of brick oven firing - Sal will need to work on that. The toppings were fresh & tasty, and the crust had good texture & flavor.

3/4ths of the way through our meal, someone finally turned off the electronica dance music and changed it to Old Blue Eyes, which was far more appropriate for the space & the food. Hopefully someone will pay more attention to the ambience, going forward, because the thump-thump-thump seriously detracted from our enjoyment.

Service was a bit sloppy . . . Our server took our drink order (only soft drinks & water, right now) and then disappeared for 10 minutes. When he returned, he dropped off the glasses & then ran off, again. I had to turn to the guy behind the register and ask him if someone could please take our order.

It's only the first couple of weeks, so I'm willing to cut them a little slack. I hope that Sal is reading the (constructive) comments & will work to improve the things that are lacking. He's got a good product & the neighborhood needs a spot like this.
