Although Anthony's gets a lot of hype on this board I believe the pie there is way over rated. Firstly, I like a well done crust-their's is so well done it's usually burnt. But the crust is the best part of the pie. The toppings are all sauteed and drenched in oil. When I order mushrooms or peppers on a pizza- I want the fresh kind-not those permantly preserved in oil. Secondly-I want them evenly distributed all over the pizza and not just the inner 30%. Thirdly-why shake below par grated romano on a freshly cooked pie. Tonight we tried Franco and Vinny's-located on Sunrise just east of the intracoastal. It had been a few years since I had been there (I'm only in S. Florida at Christmas and March Break). Anyway the place is very old fashioned and the average age tonight was about 60. Never the less the pizza was as good as I have eaten. Thin crispy crust, fresh toppings (homemade meatballs) evenly distributed all over the pie, nice zesty sauce. Service was very friendly and the prices reasonable. Way better pie than Anthony's and much more to choose from. Kids had gnochhi in a fresh meat suace which was terrific. Othe rtables had veal which looked pretty good. Give it a try and let me know what you think!!
