Annoying service at Cafe Stella in Silverlake

I posted a review earlier today, but am starting this discussion to see if others have experienced annoying and unprofessional service at this restaurant. I've eaten at Cafe Stella about a half-dozen times and have always found it serviceable, and generally good. The BLT is excellent, and things like french fries are always done right. However, today I ran headlong into a very irritating situation. Me, my wife, and two grown kids sat down 2:45 on the button. The published hours for breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays are, 9:00 to 3:00, but when the server came out to greet us, instead of asking what we wanted to drink, she told us the kitchen was closed. There were several tables of diners in the middle of their meals, so we were clearly not the only patrons in the place. When we said the kitchen is supposed to stay open until 3:00, we were answered with a shrug. I've met the owner a couple of times and have seen how, like most restauranteurs, he's keen on keeping his customers satisfied. I think he would have been appalled at his server's highly unprofessional behavior. I will not be returning to Cafe Stella.
