Anniversary Dinner in Tuscany?

alpha_ori | Aug 16, 2009 03:48 PM

My girlfriend and I will be traveling to Italy with another couple. They'll be celebrating their one-year anniversary while we're in Tuscany, on a Monday night in early October. I'm looking for a place to have a special meal experience for the four of us that night, and are willing to pay up to 75 Euro per person range without wine. "Special" could mean a lot of different things, most of which would be acceptable here -- let's just say that I'm hoping that it will be a meal that they will remember, even against the many other restaurants we'll be visiting in Tuscany, Rome, and Emilia-Romagna.

We'll be staying about 20 mins outside Florence; anywhere within an hour's drive of Florence would be perfect. We don't know anything about the area, being first time visitors, but here's what I've gleaned so far from the boards here and elsewhere:

1. Il Cibreo and Enotica Pinchiorri in Florence are both closed on Mondays and so are not an option.
2. Cane e Gatto in Siena, appears to be open on Mondays and sounds like the sort of place we're looking for, and we may make a day trip to Siena anyway.
3. Ristorante La Mora outside of Lucca sounds like a possibility.

Has anyone eaten at either of the two available options above? Can you recommend other restaurants that are similar? Thanks!

Thanks for your help!
