checked out Angon for the second time on Sunday, and was relieved to find it much better than the first time I went there. Getting right to the food:
Samosa chat was back up to Mina standards. Quite delicious, great, nuanced mix of flavors.
They didn't have papri chat on the menu, but we got an appetizer called pani puri which was sort of like papri chat in an easy-pick-up ball. It was great! Similar good mix of flavors.
Shrimp dopiyajee was pretty good. Palak paneer was pretty good, too, not transcendent like it had been before, but superior to other palak paneers I've had. We also got a mix vegetable tandoor, which my dining companions liked, although I thought it was unexciting.
Oh, and the complimentary papadum we got at the beginning of the meal was the tastiest I've ever had. Very spicy.
The service was simultaneously chaotic and slow. The business was bustling (this was on Sunday night), which is good, I think. We took care to mention to the host and the waitress that we were fans of Mina from her Sunnyside days and that we wanted it spicy, spicy, spicy, and they took us seriously, fortunately.
