Lately, I feel let down by Angeli. It has gone from a nice place where you could ring kids to behave well to a "family restaraunt" (read: given over to large groups with tons of kiddies) The whole ambiance has gone downscale, and not in a way pleasant to those of us who are fine with well behaved children in a nice dining spot but looking for a grown-up spot.
The last time we went, my husband and I had double confirmed reservations for a birthday dinner (we told them this). We arrived and were instantly seated at the worst table in the houe (next to the bathroom) and told there were no other seats. I asked about the empty ones, got rolled eyes and a "I NEED my four-tops, guys, I spend the whole evening watching 1. People going to and coming from the bathroom. 2/ Several families with toddlers who enjoyed chewing, viewing, chewing and then sowing their food to everyone whilst mom and dad screeeched "don't touch that. and 3. walk in parties of two to four announcing "do you have seats for wal ins?" getting sat in the better room next door.
It was degrading, depressing and sad. I wrote an email to evan, as I had used a gift card sent as a present from my mother, and felt it somewhat wasted. I remember her as a responsible chef/owner who cares abut her customers, all of them! I heard NOTHING in reply. Nada. Zilch, To a later email asking if she liked the homebrew my husband left for her I got a 3 word rely: "I'm on vacation."
Anyhow, I have about $22 left on the gift card, I want to go out for dinner alone tomorrow, have little cash, and wondered if perhaps a walk in of one might have better luck for a better table, better treatment and a RELAXED meal without visions of saliva covered kiddie food and pouch pursed mommies and daddies? Perhaps the Sweet Lady Jane virus is spreading down the street, and rudeness and shoddy treatment is now OK?
Or am I fooling myself and has Angeli given in and up its place to Mozza and been taken over by the soccer mom set?
