Just back from taking my mum on her first visit to Amsterdam. So a London-based foodie, trying accommodate fairly conservative food tastes of elderly mother.
Two enthusiastic recommendations:
De Laatste Kruime, Langebrugsteeg 4. Bakery and cafe, not far from much recommended Gartine, central, Rokin. Tiny place, quirky & funky. Stuffed full of pastries, quiches and cakes. Excellent coffee. Very friendly staff. We had a great late breakfast.
De Belhamel, Brouwersgracht 60. Central, between Jordan & central station. On the canal side. Really excellent 'gastro-pub' style food. Lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Outdoor tables would be wonderful in good weather.
