Amphora Winery (Dry Creek Valley)

I was in Dry Creek Valley yesterday and stopped at Amphora Winery, located in a warehouse-type building in a group of buildings housing wineries and tasting rooms. As I went through the several wines in the $5 tasting (refundable with purchase), I was struck by how much I liked all of them, from the Chardonnay (which I usually never even taste) to the Pinot (which I often don't like) through the Merlot, Zin and Syrah and Petite Sirah. I've missed mentioning some, but you get the idea. Also, it turned out that the server was part of the owning family, a teacher in SF during the week and a full working part of the family on the weekends. She said "everyone in this family plays; there are no designated hitters". It's another example of the local winery experience that I like best, a small, family-owned and very friendly winery that makes wine I really like.

It's the same group of buildings that contain the Family Wineries tasting room which I also like, even if it is more touristy and gift-shop like.
