Saw this place on the board and being a huge fan of Indian food and sick of the swill served up in West Philly, trudged dutifuly to the burbs to the highly touted Amon. Place is clean, folks are lovely and the service was fine. Only the food left me wanting. Wanting some flavor, ANY flavor. How about cumin, cinnamon, coriander, fennel, turmeric, garlic, onions, cilantro. This food tasted like it had been through the de-flavorizer. I bet the potatoes in the Alu Saag were from a can, the chicken Tandori, while plump and not dry, had NO flavor to speak of, I could not recognize the use of any spices(and I don't mean hot ones) at all. My dining companions agreed, one is Indian.)To it's credit the food is not greasy, (fat is the flavor carrier however)and again the serving folks were sweet and the papadams plentiful. I give up on restaurant Indian food. Gotta find and old Indian granny and get invited home to dinner.
