Americanized Chinese Food

After reading the post below about the Americanized Chinese food that we are often subjected to, I began to wonder about how Chinese food is adapted to local taste in other countries. Is Chinese food in Italy dumbed down in the same way it is in the United States? Are the dishes even the same? For instance, if there is the ubiquitous "beef and broccoli" on the menu in Italy, is it prepared in the same way as it's prepared in the U.S.?
