Today I could wait no longer. I had to see what the big deal was with Ambala Dhaba. I parked in the lot for Ross as suggested. There was no other parking anywhere nearby. I ordered a la carte also as suggested. I got the Ludhiana Chicken, Curry Goat, Saag Paneer, Daal, Naan and rice. The Chicken was amazing...and I am not a big chicken eater at all. The goat was very good in a Birria kind of way. The meat was flavorful but not real tender. Lots of bone and gristle in with the meat. This is also the way most Birria is also served. The Daal was more of a soup but it had FLAVOR, good flavor. The Saag Paneer was pretty good but I like that everywhere. Even though we only ate about half of our food, I couldn't leave without trying some Mango Kulfi. It was the richest tasting iced cream I can ever recall tasting. I think it comes on a stick and he cut it into pieces in a bowl. Ordering this way is somewhat expensive. About $40.00 but we will have dinner Sunday from all of the leftovers. They have quite a few lunch specials for about $5.00. He kept trying to get me to order one of those but I wanted the full Ambala experience. As everyone has pointed out, the place was pretty empty. Next door is Sunnin, a Lebanese restaurant. They literally had a line out the door. I will have to check this out sometime too. The Chai tea must have been good. My wife had 2 cups. The man at the register and the server could not have been nicer.
