I wandered into the Wat Buddha Thai Temple at 76-14 46 Ave. the other day. I was only intending to take a few pictures of the outside, but was invited in, first to take pictures of the inside, then to stay for their service and LUNCH. How could I refuse? They have a daily service which ends with the congregrants offering all manner of Thai foods to the monks. Whatever the monks don't eat is shared among the congregants and is amazing. I'm not suggesting that all the Hounds go barging into their services in the hopes of being fed like I did--that wouldn't be nice. But they are having a special Thai New Years (Songkran) event on April 17 that includes food and the public is invited. I think they expect a $20 donation, but if the food on an ordinary day was as good as it was, the festival food has to be unbelievable. The event also includes Thai cultural music and dance. If you have questions about the event, their number is 718 803-9881. You may or may not get someone that speaks English.
