many thanks to whoever it was on this board who pointed me to the blue ribbon bakery shop last fall sometime.
it's a little shop, diagonally across the street from the restaurant (bedford and downing streets, i think, right near 6th ave). they offer 6 or 8 varieties of honey. ask to taste (the staff is friendly)--they have plain, granular, purely sugary tasting varieties, and intensely floral complex kinds. i ended up with the "golden reserve" and the "vera cruz orange cream" both on the floral end of the spectrum. it's amazing stuff.
and get some bread while you're there--moist, salty, chewy and delicious. i think it's my favorite bread in new york.
