Alert: Cherries on Top

Marty L. | Jun 15, 2003 12:16 AM

The harvest is just about ready to pick at Cherries on Top in Flint Hill. They've announced that there will be picking beginning Friday, June 20th, "for 10 days only! - 9:00am to 4:00pm."

Admission $5.00 per adult; $3.00 per pound; 6th and 7th pounds free. Eleven varieties, including Bing, Ranier, and Royal Anne. Open no matter the weather. (Bring your own bucket and don't pick from those few rows reserved for supermarket harvest.)

Here's the catch: Last year they ran out of cherries on the very first morning they were open. I don't know whether there's a similar risk this year, and/or whether the orchard has done anything to ensure that the cherries are available at least through the weekend. If anyone finds out more info, please post.

Take Interstate 66 West to Exit 27.
Turn left and take the first right onto Route 647.
Follow Route 647 until it ends at Route 522.
Turn left onto Route 522, go 300 yards to the first
right on to Route 641. Follow the signs to the orchard and the top of the mountain.
