My husband and I are headed to ABQ for a long weekend in a few months. He'll be attending a conference and I'll be knocking around the city. I lived there 10+ years ago, but I'm sure things have changed significantly and I have a few questions. First off--where to stay? I'm thinking the Aztec for a the genuine Albuquerque experience. Is that insane? Are the crime rates in the Central Ave. NE motels still out of control? Secondly--Where should we eat? We'll definitely be stopping in at my student haunts, Frontier and El Patio. What are the good restaurants, both higher end and hole-in-the-wall? I'm looking for the real deal, not the tourist joints. And finally--Any suggestions about places to eat driving west on I-40 to Arizona?
