The Hyatt Regncy Tamaya is a wonderful resort. The Corn Maiden restaurant provides a good sampling of SW cuisine. Two other notable eateries were in Albuquerque. The top on my list is Graze located on Central Avenue in the Nob Hill area (next to the University). Jennifer James is the owner/chef and she has developed an excellent menu for grazing. The portions are all appetizer size and extremely well prepared. Most impressive is the attention to details in running a top notch restaurant. The first thing I noticed is that the iced tea was fresh brewed with real tea taste. The sugar served was a liquid sugar reduction infused with fresh mint.
For a size of Albuquerque the surprise was the St. James Tea Room in the Old Town District. Located in a strip mall on Rio Grande Avenue, this English tea room rivals the service and cucumber sandwishes of such distinguished tea rooms located in London, Victoria (BC)Canada, Hong Kong and New York. Reservation is a must as they prepare the food based on the number of resrvations.
