I love Al Amir and have for many years. We were bummed when they closed their Devine Street location and moved to Irmo since we live downtown, but the food is so good, we have made the trek several times since the move, and have gotten food to go as well. The food itself seems to be the same, but sadly, the Damascus bread isn't near as good as it was on Devine Street. It's missing something, but I'm not sure what. Maybe the oven isn't the same in Irmo? It really doesn't taste the same, and the last few times we have gotten it, it didn't have black sesame seeds - or many white ones for that matter - at all. Has anyone else had the same experience? I may have to ask the owner if they have changed anything. The old bread was so good, and this is such a disappointment.
