Aji Limon, Clifton, NJ

My husband and I recently had dinner at the new Peruvian restaurant, Aji Limon in Clifton, NJ. I lived in Peru many years ago and was craving some authentic Peruvian dishes. I convinced my husband to go to Aji Limon and we had a great time. The food was simple, delicious and just like I remembered. At the table they start you off with some roasted corn kernels, the large Peruvian kind, crunchy and meaty they were a tasty snack. We also got a cup of lime wedges and a small ramekin of...aji limon, a tasty green sauce. We ordered the Papa a la Hauncaina to start and it was amazing. The cold potatoes and the rich sauce were heaven on a plate; it brought back memories of me trying to make it in my small Lima apartment.

My husband got the Lomo Saltado; the beef was tender and the dish really tasty. He was a bit confused by the fact that he got both french fries and rice but he enjoyed it. I ordered the pasta Huancaina, it was a large plate of fettuccini like pasta with the Hauncaina sauce and a tender piece of thin steak on top. The portions were so big we couldn't finish, but the leftovers were great the next day.

The friendly waitress mentioned they had tres leche cake as a dessert special and well, we just had to try it. My husband had never had it before and loved it at the first bite! It was a creamy, cool milky cake with the perfect sweetness.

We really enjoyed ourselves and I recommend this restaurant.
