After the good things I've heard about Aix, I was expecting great food. Not so.
The bread was tasty, chewy and a little crusty, and served warm. The butter arrived with little flecks of gray sea salt. This was the last impressive thing.
We had the shrimp and scallop appetizers, and the venison and lamb entrees. The venison was reasonably good, but everything else was remarkably, memorably, unspectacular. None of the dishes had anything that stood out as interesting, fresh, or expertly prepared.
