Had dinner last night at Aix en Provence.
Nice place....very quiet (Tuesday night)
Would I go back? well maybe...but there are lots of other places I want to try first.
Duck wonton amuse, very nice.
Fois Gras appetizer is killer good. Mango/apple beneath, with onion marmalade. Good portion of fois, the fruit soaking in the juices...droooool. (Not cheap at 25$ though, but no regrets)
Trio of lobster, smoked salmon, tuna tartare was so-so. I like my tuna tartar more assertive, this was very mild with a very pale tuna. Salmon was decent and the hunk of cold lobster tail is just that.
Halibut with macadamia nuts and polenta cubes. I thought this was too 'separate' to be really great. Each item was really nice in itself, but they didn't seem to really blend together. Note to chef: I would corse chop the nuts (they were whole) and hit a little heavier on the sauce.
Seared tuna au Poivre. Again the light fleshed tuna, I'm used to a darker fattier tuna. Delicious spinich, nice frites.
Both entrees a little light on the sauce in my opinion.
Creme brulee...under flamed, sugar still granular...
Bananas foster crepe. Yummy. Sooo sweet.
Great espresso I thought as well.
total 130$ish w/1 glass of wine
