A&H Seafood

I've lived in the same 'hood all my life, and I never knew this place existed. I've even been to the Bethesda Crab House several times, and I still haven't seen it. Further, I can't believe Cameron's opened on the SAME street, and I've been a customer there on occassion.

For those of you that don't know, A&H is, or appears to be, and old style seafood shop. If I gather correctly, it is run, and probably owned, by two Portuguese(?) gentlemen? Lots of beautiful whole fish. I picked out a nice big yellowtail for the grill, one guy tossed it to the other, and it was expertly cleaned in less than a minute ($10.50). Wow. That'd be $21 at Sutton (and please, don't get me started on Sutton.) They had great looking salmon, tuna, lots of shellfish, and even a few varieties I was not familiar with.

There is also a small refrigerator/freezer section. I also bought a package of six (d'Argen____)frozen quail for $7. The chorizo looked great, but I'm a little unfamiliar with it, so I wanted to do a bit of research. I think I'll head back there this weekend, with a paella recipe in hand.

Are a lot of you 'hounds familiar with this place? Am I the last to know? What do you all like to buy from these guys? Any disappointments? Recommendations appreciated.

Best of all, I walked in at 8:30AM on Saturday and asked if they were opened. They responded, I'm sure only half-jokingly, that "we're always open." How great is that! I can be done with my shopping before the hoards. Cameron's doesn't open until 10!
