AeroPress Topping Off Question

I really like the new AeroPress I got but I am having a hard time diluting (topping off as they call it in their literature) the finished shots so that a regular cup of coffee doesn't come out too strong or too thin.

The brewing/press process is a snap and the resulting shots smooth and flavorful. But I tend to use very large (12-14 oz) coffee mugs and have, unfortunately, ended up over-diluting the shots. I end up with a nice smooth cup of coffee, but a weak one with not a lot of flavor or body. So...to a standard 2-shot press, how much hot water are most of you other users adding to get a nice medium/strong cup of coffee, and approximately what yield (in ounces) are you getting?

(P.S. Yes, I do realize that some of the weak or thinness I'm experiencing in the finished coffe may be a result of the coffee and using and not the AeroPress)
