advice sought on restaurant compromise

Adults in our family are relatively adventurous eaters, the teen-age kids less so. Where can we eat together harmoniously? We want to avoid making two stops for each meal. (Four days in town.) We don't need "kid-friendly" places in the usual sense. Ours are too old for that. We just need places that serve both the interesting and the tame.

Italian cuisine is a decent compromise, but I'd welcome some other suggestions. I figure on Katz's or Greengrass's for a deli lunch.

Location on upper west side (near 79th and Broadway) a plus, but not a constraint. (I don't want to eat *every* meal there.)

Thanks for your help.
