Advice on home canning..

cimero | Aug 24, 200611:47 PM     6

When I was a kid my mom canned stewed tomatoes which were heaven on earth. Now I just had a thought because I'm always making way too much soup and spagetti sauce when I make those things from scratch, (and my freezer is always way too full)...it occured to me I should can the leftovers. And I'm reading various websites to refresh my memory on all this...my Mom used the waterbath version of cooking, but I see a lot of sites recommending pressure cookers. Someone just gave me a pressure cooker without directions and I have no idea how to use it.
Can anyone share some advice on this subject. And then when I was a kid I remember these terrific green peppers that were canned, I think they had garlic, or maybe they were just pickled peppers...any recipes for that?
