Advice for fun Tuesday night dinner - East 40s or 50s

Profsuzy | Jan 2, 201104:27 AM

I need a little help choosing a restaurant for a dinner for 6 - my sisters and their husbands are meeting us for my husband's birthday this Tuesday. We're driving to NYC from PA, so by the time we get to our hotel (at 50th & Lex), we're not going to want to go too far for dinner. So I'm looking for a fun place within, say, 10 blocks. Budget is something of an issue for 1 couple, so I'd like to keep the cost to no more than $150-200 per couple total (wine, tax, tip). I've done some searching on Chowhound, and so far, I've identified La Mangeoire and Luna Piena as possibilities. Italian, French or American food would appeal to all (Asian not a favorite of one brother-in-law). If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
