Yesterday I took two visiting compliance persons (man and woman) to lunch at Casamento's. They had said that they wanted to get a feel for a real old fashioned New Orleans kind of place.
We ordered the fried oyster loaves and fries all around (alas, out of courtesy I had to pass on the soft shell crab). They weren't adventurous enough for raw oysters, so that killed that. They're both based out of Los Angeles and the man told me that raw oysters in LA are $17 per dozen. How does he know this, I wonder? He doesn't EAT raw oysters.
Casamento's bowled the lady over, although the man was less impressed. SHE (first trip) said that she thought that everyone in New Orleans was French and had a Mississippi-type accent (she's originally from South Dakota or some such place). The man has been here before and he didn't say much except about the price of raw oysters in California, although he did say that he felt that the fried oysters were pretty darn good.
