We went to lunch at Adelmo's last week and found ourselves wondering why we don't go there more often. The food is very good and the prices reasonable. The service is always good as well.
For an appetizer, we had the sausage-stuffed mushrooms. This appetizer varies on which mushrooms they get - you either get 5 of the smaller mushrooms or two really big ones. I'm not sure of the variety - basically it was a giant button mushroom but it was great. The sausage stuffing was wonderful, the mushroom was still firm and very tasty, and it was topped with a nice but not smothering layer of mozzarella and their fresh tomato sauce.
Lunch entrees come with either a cup of soup (it was pasta e fagioli that day) or a small house salad. The salad was mixed greens with cherry tomatoes and a nice, herby dressing.
Husband had the meat lasagna with pink sauce. A very generous portion and very tasty. The pink sauce is essentially a tomato cream sauce.
I had the ricotta ravioli with fresh tomato sauce. One of my favorites. It came with a nice chiffonade of fresh basil as well.
They had a nice list of specials in addition to the regular menu. And there are many much more adventurous dishes than the classics we had, including gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce (divine) and quail served with cous cous (also divine). Wonderful risotto as well. They have also won a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
If you are looking for something new - try Adelmo's. They've been around a long time for a reason.
It's not a hip place, but they have very good food and they take care of you. It's a nice place to go for a relaxing meal.
